*Update on Corona Virus and My Practice*

Dear clients and colleagues,

These are challenging times.  There is a great lack of information for regular people, and the spread of the Covid-19 virus is still unknown.  I have made the difficult decision to stop seeing clients for the next two weeks, and will re-evaluate at that time based on the most up to date research. Red Moon, where I work one day a week, has also made the hard and brave decision to close temporarily.  My reasons for shutting down are two fold.  First and foremost, we know that the incubation period for the virus is between 1-14 days, with 5 days being the median.  We also know that the virus can remain airborne for 3 hours, and survive on surfaces for several days depending on the type of material.  In addition, some people may carry but never exhibit symptoms.  For these reasons, it is nearly impossible to know if myself or any clients I have seen are carrying the virus.  I am not willing to take the risk of potentially spreading this virus to you or your loved ones.  Regardless of how much we sanitize, there is sure to be a higher risk with prolonged touch in close quarters.  My second reason is that right now many workers are forced out of work.  This is a crisis for myself and others who are not salaried and rely on shift or session work to survive.  I am in solidarity with those workers who are forced to work, and hope my decision to stop work and instead to fight for sick pay and emergency unemployment from the state can help everyone.
In the meantime, I am very happy to discuss concerns or questions with any of you by phone, video chat, or email.  I am able to offer more extensive consultations for a “pay what you will” rate (if you contact me we can discuss if a consultation is right for you, or just a short chat/email), and I am also happy to offer video based tutorials for home massage from people you are already physically in contact with, again for a pay what you will rate (this could be $0-$200, as I know everyone is in a different financial situation right now).  I also have some basic herbal remedies I am offering to the community for free, not to combat the virus, but to help with any regular cold symptoms and also nervous system support.  Contact me for more information.
If anything, this pandemic has revealed how unsustainable our current mode of production, capitalism, is.  We need one another now more than ever, to offer direct support as well as to build a new world.  I have written more about this and provide some resources and fun reading on my blog here.
With lots of love, respect, and solidarity,
Cindy

Stay tuned for more! In the meantime, if you are looking for lactation support I highly recommend Kate DiMarco-Ruck, IBCLC (theparentingstudio.com).
